Red Hat Certification
Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
The RHCE certification indicates that the candidate has passed a realistic performance-based lab exam that tests their ability to: install and configure Red Hat Linux; understand limitations of hardware; configure basic networking and file systems for a network; configure X Window System; perform essential Red Hat Linux system administration; configure basic security for a network server; ser up and manage common enterprise networking (IP) services for the organisation; carry out server diagnostics and troubleshooting.
There are 2 different ways that you can qualify as an RHCE:
- Standard: The RHCE certification can be earned by taking the standard sequence of courses: RH 033, RH 131, RH 253 and then the RH 302 Certification Exam. These courses are designed to take you from Zero to Hero in terms of Red Hat Linux and it's application.
- Rapid-Track: This course, RH 300, is aimed at experienced Unix and Linux professionals. It consists of 4 days of intensive hands-on training plus the Certification Exam on the fifth day.
Red Hat Certified Technician (RHCT)
RHCT continues Red Hat's well-received performance-based approach to certification: RHCT candidates will experience a hands-on approach by actually working with the systems directly to demonstrate their capabilities with the RHCT competencies. RHCT covers the skills specific to production technicians and are a subset of the skills tested in RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer). RHCT certified technicians could continue their studies to qualify for RHCE certification and progress their careers to become managers of Linux network infrastructures.
RHCT certification will be a valuable goal for those transitioning to Linux from other UNIX operating systems, or who want to prove their competencies at a midway point on the way to RHCE. RHCE is named one of the ten hottest certifications in IT. Persons entering the Linux market from non-IT careers will find RHCT the logical first certification to prove their competency to prospective employers.
There are 2 different ways that you can qualify as an RHCT:
